Tenafly PD Catches the Bad Guy…Again!

Michael Pezzatti mugshot curtesy of Tenafly Police Department

Well, the Tenafly PD deserves major props for arresting Michael Pezzatti of New Milford last week after he allegedly attempted to lure students in Tenafly into his van.  It is times like these that we must celebrate the diligent and professional police work our men and women in uniform perform every day.  Thank you TPD…you rock.

Light Rail UPDATE….

16 Jan

The ever controversial Light Rail is making news again.  This news story from last week is the latest in the saga.  Here is the current state of the issue:

  • Bergen County wants this and officials have asked North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority board to support a proposal to extend light rail service from North Bergen to Tenafly.
  • Their preferred plan (to Tenafly) is to terminate the line in Tenafly but a back-up plan will end the line in Englewood.
  • The Mayor and Council are discussing what can be done given our referendum which showed the consensus in town is against the rail coming to Tenafly.
  • There are upcoming meeting to make your voice heard:  Tuesday, Jan. 24, 3 and 7 p.m. at Clinton Inn, 145 Dean Drive, Tenafly & Thursday, Jan. 26, 3 and 7 p.m. at Crowne Plaza Englewood Hotel, 401 S. Van Brunt St., Englewood.

Here is our take…it doesn’t matter what we as town folks say or do.  If NJ Transit decides it has the dollars and the County is behind the plan there isn’t a darn thing that will stop the train from rolling down our tracks.  Everyone felt good about the referendum because there was actual concrete proof that 2 out of 3 people are against the plan but, it was non-binding.  While we have been called “pro-light rail bloggers” in the past, this post isn’t about our opinion, it is about the current state of the project.  Go to the meetings…say your peace…say a prayer…but none of that will matter if there is money and political will, which there certainly seems to be…
